Flower Dome
The Flower Dome is one out of two attractions in Gardens By the Bay. The other would be the cloud forest. However, my focus would be on the flower dome today. This event only lasts from 12 April - 20 May. The concept of this "TulipMania" festival is the Dutch countryside as the tulip display set in an idyllic pastoral landscape.
However, in the midst of all the tulips, I was shocked to find fruits and vegetables growing! Flower Dome does not only display flowers but also show you the process of the growth of plants.
These are a few examples of other plants growing in the premises of the flower dome instead of flowers. In these pictures, there are herbs such as parsley, dill, basil, thyme, cilantro etc. Not only that, but also fruits! Like the lemons shown in the picture above!
As you stroll across the blooming tulip fields dotted with traditional thatched-roof farmhouses. You will observe that there are over 35 varities of tulips. However, in the image above, the colour of the tulip holds a special meaning to Singapore. To commemerate the bicentennial year for Singapore, 200 years since Singapore's founding, the tulip has a vibrant red and white colour.
There are tours you could join to learn more about this floral display named "ASK Me! Tours"
These tours occur daily at 11am & 3pm. You can find out more details on their website, linked at the bottom of this page!
